Here is a Louis XVI carved gilt settee dating to the late 18th century with a broken front leg. The remains of the old tenon were removed from the mortise on the underside of the frame and a new double tenon carefully reconstructed at the top of the damaged leg where the original had been. Great care was taken not to damage the gilt surface while repairs were performed on the leg.
