A kas is a large wardrobe of a style found mostly in the furniture of Scandinavia and northern Europe. This is one of the larger ones that I\'ve seen. It is constructed in walnut with oak used as a secondary wood. Overall, it was in good shape, but there were many losses to the carved surface, the massive turned feet were in need of some attention and it had been given a coat of polyurethane. Once the repairs were completed, I removed the poly, added a bit of color to enhance the surface and polished the piece in the traditional shellac and wax. Below I have included some examples of the many carved repairs that were done as well as repairs to the feet and crown.
